Dealing with a Disrespectful Brother

Sometimes when dealing with terrible family members I ask myself if I weren't related to them, would I be friends with them or at least acquaintances if we met at school or work or something. If the answer is no, that they're blatantly disrespectful and someone that is a pain to be around, then I choose not to interact. He doesn't respect you and therefore you shouldn't have to deal with him. You did what was best.

You made the right decision! Toxic family should be treated like regular toxic friends or people. They should be removed from your life. He just hates his life and is projecting that on to you. Stay strong and hold your ground. Next thing you should tell your family is if they want to shame you for kicking him out then they need to see what it’s like to live with him. They are just mad because now they feel like they have to house him.
