My primary gave me Prozac for moderate anxiety and within two days I had an insanely awful reaction to it. Probably serotonin syndrome. It took me a month to feel normal again. In the last year I’ve just had Ativan for emergencies. But I have a hard time determining what’s an emergency and when I really could or should take it. I want to stay far away from anything that affects serotonin. I’m considering asking to try Lyrica. Has anyone tried it for anxiety? They say it affects the brain the same way benzos do but so much safer.

I suffer from chronic pain, so my neurologist prescribed lyrica for it. He told me it may help my anxiety as well. It really made a difference with my pain but didn’t help my anxiety so much

I was on Lyrica and it didn't help me at all. Now I take Lexapro
I haven't tried Lyrica but I do take Ativan and if it feels like an emergency it probably is. I take a pretty small dose, and I tend to avoid it if I can of course, but I take it if it feels like a panic attack for sure.
I mean Prozac worked for me, you might need to talk to your psychiatrist about taking diffrent meds.
