Omg yes I always struggle to fall asleep because of my ADHD. the only that really helps me sleep at this point is sleeping meds and MUSIC!!! Music helps to drown out the thoughts tbh
I agree with @fxrest.faxrie I use sound always. Whether is rain sounds or music without works or music with words, a combination sometimes, but never silence. Melatonin works fine sometimes for people with ADHD. I also use marijuana to help me sleep too on days where the panic attacks are especially bad and the thoughts won’t slow.
I do puzzles till I get tired enough to pass out, when I start making mistakes I switch to restoration or wood turning or cooking videos without talking
I've taken melatonin for a long time. I stopped for a little while because it was giving me crazy dreams that would bother me but I just went back to it at a lower dose. also I try to tell myself stories in my head, especially things that are just simple and easy and comforting, like about my favorite characters. go with something vague and try to just tell yourself a little story instead of writing in your head. it sound kinda arbitrary but i can try to explain it more if you want!
I have this all the time. A lot of the time my mind is all over the place so I put something on in the background that I know pretty well so that my brain can focus on that but I don't have to actually pay attention to it. For me it was The Office for the longest time because I know that show so well that I knew exactly what was happening and didn't feel the need to stop trying to sleep and watch it. I would also HIGHLY recommend ASMR. It's not for everyone, but give it a genuine try and try different types of videos with different sounds to see what works for you.
I’ve always had a hard time sleeping and I learned that melatonin doesn’t work for me, it has the opposite effect. So to counter that I tried listening to instrumental music at a low volume, rain pouring, asmr, reading a book (preferably not one with blue light, stuff actually keeps you up).
I take Trazodone to help me sleep. I find it works really well, and doesn't make me feel sluggish the next morning!
Also, a low dose of Prazosin (mini-press) is a great medication for PTSD, specifically nightmares.
These are both things to talk to your doctor about!! A benadryl before bedtime can help, as it can help take the edge off the anxiety and make you sleepy -- but it can also be habit-forming.
I read or watch shows until I fall sleep. I still haven’t figure out how to stay asleep though lol. I’ve taken a lot of different things. The one that helps the most is omega 3. I notice I stay asleep longer when i take it. I take a higher dose than what is recommended. But you might wanna ask your doctor first.
I won't disclose the relation of this person to me but someone I know has those disorders and started taking Valium before bed, and it really helped them.
