Has anyone with Sjogren’s Syndrome battled with IBS-C and intestinal blockages? I have my second blockage. The first I was able to treat from home with Magnesium Citrate and Miralax but this one is not reacting as well to that treatment. My GI is calling me in the morning to go over her thoughts of the X-ray. I’m weak from not being able to eat anything but some soup/broth and just sick. I’m afraid of surgery. Any advice or experiences?

This is the one I use: NOW Supplements, Slippery Elm Powder, 4-Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UE25XQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_FTQPKTEEWC7C7STGJXJA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Don’t use if you have allergy to any pollen or trees in the elm family. Also, you need to space it two hours apart from any other supplements or medications since it forms a coating over the stomach & intestines & can interfere w/ absorption.

Ive been juicing lately… a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil in my juice had started helping me… just a thought. I’ll try anything that helps and makes my life easier

I haven’t tried this regularly, but I have had some success w/ Slippery Elm powder. It lubricates the intestinal tract.

I’ve used enemas with no luck. I’m at a loss. Right now I’m drinking miralax everyday plus milk of magnesium 2-3x a day and my Linzess. I’ve been to the ED and was told it’s just bad constipation. I thought I was good and cleaned out but I ate a little bit of chicken casserole and I was constipated again. So here I am… on this crazy roller coaster of stool softeners and who knows what else. I’m watching what I eat. I’m hungry but can’t eat much.

I have Sjogren's syndrome and Ibs-c. When Magnesium Citrate and Miralax do not help (both of which I hate) I use an enigma. I'll use 2 in a row on advice from my doctor. I don't know if you want to do that. But it helps me and I definitely prefer it to what the emergency room does. Good luck.

I started juicing last month… it’s not as regular as I used to be but it’s helping. Research any fruits and vegetables that are good for digestion. Also add one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil to the juice. I’ve been on this two months. It’s helped ….

Andi71, I think that’s what it’s going to be for me. I thought I was in the clear and now I’m having another issue.

Yea…. I have had digestive issues for 20 years. Honestly I’ve gotten to the point where I practically eat the same thing every day

I will ask my doc about tegaserod. I believe my previous GI tried to prescribe it but my insurance wouldn’t approve. Hopefully after this being the second incident in 2 years the prescription will be deemed necessary.

I have Crohn’s not IBS but I’ve had severe constipation and blockages from that. They probably won’t operate but instead will try to clean you out in hospital with colonoscopy prep.

I am on a high dose of Linzess to try and combat this from happening which is like a major stool softener. I’ve been taking so much to try and remove the blockage. Today we will find out my results.
