antipsychotics down regulate dopamine levels as far as I know. Psychosis is either caused by or just correlated with high dopamine levels, so bringing them down will often take someone out of psychosis, though I am unsure of the intricacies of how individual antipsychotics defer from one another
I just started risperdal and so far i just feel like i want to sleep all day and it makes me take tired right now but i was told it would go away and i do feel a bit calmer and less uptight i guess
