I find it really hard to talk to my partner when I feel down. he's so supportive and sweet and accepting of my illnesses and is always there to help but I always feel like a burden to him. Just another problem he has to take care of. Does anyone else feel like this and how do I fix it?

@cheeseandfruit this definitely helps, my partner and I have taken this approach as well and it really helps. Especially being sure to do things that show appreciation when we can.

Honestly I feel this way every day. But like you I have an absolutely wonderful, understanding partner. For me personally, I think it stems from others making me feel like I was a burden for the simplest things so it's strange to me even after 9yrs. It helped when I sat down and talk to him about it and we've been finding ways for me to make sure I'm not overwhelming them (helps me with the guilt) and they are more vocal about when they do get overwhelmed. I've also found communities like this app help very much as well because my partner and I can still communicate and they can be supportive but I also get support here when they aren't able to truely understand what I'm dealing with and I'm not putting all of it on him. š«

My boyfriend has straight up told me that my depression was ruining our relationship because of how much I talk about it to him. He also has depression, and he feels bad that he can't "help" me, but the truth is that he has helped me... I've found that showing appreciation every once in a while and playing games together/doing bonding activities that don't involve interacting with your illness can help.
