How do I deal with not being able to change other people's misconceptions of me? There was a misunderstanding at work recently and this new girl seems to think that the nicknames my friends use to refer to our residents (old folks home) xaren't nessicarily elder abuse". Mostly the names are just kind of jokes that we use because of HIPPA guidelines. She apperently didn't like then and reported them both to our direct manager and to the front desk who report to the big bosses. She didn't even talk to any of us about them other than the initial vague explanation. We think that her issue was that we used the word "crazy" for some on them, but it wasn't meant to be in a derogatory way, we're all neurodivergent and struggle with mental health ourselves. Either way, we decided to stop using that word after this incident in case that was what her issue was. Anyway, now our boss is "keeping an eye on us" to make sure that we're not like...laughing at her or anything because of her disabilities which seems to include autism (which one of my coworkers in question is also on the spectrum of) as well as Tourette's Syndrome which both that coworker and I have. And for the record, our Boss is hardly the poster child for respecting OUR disabilities so this whole situation is just pissing us off. Anyway, I feel like if I could talk to her I could explain everything but I don't have her phone number and she won't work with us again for a couple of days. Even then, because of my anxiety I'm super nervous about talking to her about it and not sure that ai could do it anyway. But I don't want her to think that I disrespect our residents because even though they frustrate me, I still love them. So dealing with this situation with her (on top of my boss being a hypocrite about it) has just been really frustrating because I don't let things go until they have come to some kind of conclusion...
