so I'm having a dilemma, I'm in college and I have a roommate who I really like and we get along great, with the exception with them staying up late playing video games. they will sometimes play till 2 in the morning and are really loud. not to mention the computer screen is so bright it lights up the whole room. how do I go about asking them if on school nights to only play till midnight and then get off? I don't want there to be any tension between us but I'm not getting enough sleep and it's really taking a toll on my mental health.

“Hey, I’ve been having a hard time sleeping lately and really would like to go to bed at midnight. If you want to stay up past midnight would you mind going to the common room?” Should do the trick just fine:)

Good luck you got this ❤️💖
It’s understandable to be nervous but you owe it to yourself to just ask. You can’t read minds, maybe they’ll be understanding! By not asking you risk suffering in silence, affected sleep/school performance, and possibly even some resentment. Always be your number one advocate; you can’t control how others will respond but it will always be revealed to you who you actually like & can count on to be in your corner!
