Boyfriend didn't get me a birthday gift but bought a video game

my boyfriend didn't have money to get me something for my birthday. which at the time I was okay with knowing his circumstances. this was about a week ago. today I found out he just spent 50 dollars on a new video game. should I be upset? I'm kind of hurting.

      So work with him, maybe he is bad at money management , show him how to start a Christmas club at the bank for next year. If he is a good guy , just show him how to be better, and stop paying for everything, your enabling him , start a savings account for you so you can buy yourself something wonderful that you deserve , treat yourself good and so will he

      my boyfriend didn’t get me a birthday present. or an anniversary present which really hurt because I did so much for him and its like he didn’t even care to write me a card. i don’t care at all about the money he could’ve given me a rock and I would’ve been happy that he thought about me. he’s all talk but didn’t care that I was sad about him not doing anything for me

      There is always some way to show someone that they're special and make their day. But don't wait for him to plan it maybe you need to show him what your needs are maybe spending the day together doing something that you both enjoy it doesn't it doesn't cost a lot to make a cake or even buy a slice of cake at the store and put a candle in it maybe he maybe he just doesn't know what to do. However if this is a behavior that continues after you've told him what you need I would seriously reconsider seriously reconsider if this is something you want to put up with

        @KGarrett this does happen a lot. I am always the one paying for stuff. I just thought my birthday would be different. He isn't a bad boyfriend though. He is sweet and funny and cares about me a lot.
