I have tried all medical treatments for my fibromyalgia pain. I’m waiting to get a pain pump placed, but is there more holistic approaches you guys could recommend?

I have many prior injuries (8 car accidents) but the most eye opening treatments I had for fibro and chronic pain was ketamine. I know that’s not accessible to everyone yet (it’s very expensive and insurance doesn’t cover it) but it allowed me to realize just how much my emotions exacerbate my pain. That one session at the ER was eye opening and changed the way I perceive pain. Also: incredible relief for 24 hours. Medical Marijuana (THC and CBD and CBG) has been effective at reducing my pain level by 4-6 points on the 10 point scale. Physical Therapy helps me with getting my mobility back to a functional level (the car accidents have disrupted my muscle tension, often pulling things the wrong way). low doses of muscle relaxer as needed for flares. Therapy to talk about how my pain affects my life and what I can do about it. Human empathy soothes my ouchy soul. Lol

Cymbalta made me extremely sick while I was on it, just to chime in on the fellow users. Do not recommend, personally, especially if you (likely) have secondary or additional conditions. Cannabis products have replaced muscle relaxants for me as my body adapted to them and are no longer effective. I have a rib injury that prevents me from breathing well or without sharp pain, so figuring out gentle movement that doesn’t start a flare has been rough. The pain meditations from Calm are pretty helpful or The Pain Companion by Sarah Shockley has helped with the mental/emotional side of pain for me 💚

CBD and/or medical marijuana. HUGE help! Acupuncture is a good option only if you're able to do it regularly. Addressing any trauma and mental issues (if that applies to you...I personally don't know of a person who has fibro and NOT have any trauma they've gone through). Yoga, qi gong are both great to do for regular movement and "keeping your body oiled". Yoga With Adrienne is a YouTube channel that is the best there is for fibromyalgia. Eating clean and avoiding "flare up" foods is important. Really, the key to all these types of disorders is treating your body as a whole; not individually.

I stopped taking Cymbalta because it wasn’t helping. I have been taking Savella for over a year now and it’s helped some.

I was prescribed cymbalta but stopped taking it after a week because it made me feel terrible. I’m looking for natural pain management too. @ pond water, tell me more about that yoga especially for fibro 👀

I’m allergic to Cymbalta (sadly). I’m currently on Protriptyline. It really doesn’t do much (in my opinion). My doctor is hesitant about trying other meds. I’m already on so many meds & I’m also very allergic to tons of meds. I really wish I could find something though. I see him this Monday & plan to discuss it more seriously. I did start getting deep tissue massages once a month & I found that for me, it seems to lessen my pain for about 2 weeks. Then I need another massage. I can only afford one a month though. I’m seriously considering acupuncture too. Has anyone done acupuncture?

^i’m also on cymbalta. i haven’t noticed any improvements personally. i use a lidocaine stick for specific pain points and a cane when needed. short bursts of yoga (there’s yoga specifically for fibro) in the morning helps for me :) i’ve heard tumeric is really good, i was taking it for a while and it did help a bit
