What do you look for in a partner like yes, the NT ND dynamic is going to pose different challenges relating to communication in a relationship but then there is always the option of dating an autistic. But not all autistic like each other romantically even though they might be on the “same wavelength” but what if there are. Does that mean a lifetime of dating nuerotypicals and then breakups just to figure out preferences and then having an aspie come along that ticks all the boxes. What do you guys think.
As someone(a ND) who’s dating a NT, it’s more about them not judging you and being empathetic. They may not be able to feel what you feel or struggle with the same things, but I think what’s important is them being supportive, accommodating and understanding.
I’m an autistic ADHDer, and my partner has OCD and ADHD. We differ in a lot of ways, but at the end of the day we are both really similar and get along extremely well. We share a level of understanding that I have yet to find in any relationship with a NT.
As with any relationship, the most important thing is that you both share a mutual love and respect for each other.
