I get 2 liters of sodium chloride through a port in my chest and it has been the only thing keeping me out of the hospital. If I am having an episode I during a small can of V8 Juice, but also you can try canned veggies. If it's an emergency and I'm out I carry those little Limmon' lime flavored salt packets in my IV backpack. I have never takes salt tablets because I really want to at least get it through the V8 or veggies because at least I'm getting some other vitamins as well and some nutrition. I take thermotabs. I'm sure it's different for everyone but I have to drink 120 oz of water a day( including electrolytes) the salt helps balance fluid potassium and salt levels in your system. I am suppose to take 1-2 pills with every meal and add more if I'm going to be out in the heat. But you have to be careful and make sure you're drinking enough fluid if you're taking thermotabs.
