I’m thinking of getting tested for pots but i don’t know if my doctor will believe me. I’ve heard people say that their doctors told them their symptoms were from anxiety even though they did actually have pots. I am diagnosed with multiple anxiety disorders so i’m worried they’ll just tell me it’s my anxiety. My heart rate goes from in the 60s to 130-150bpm and i have other symptoms of pots. It might be a different condition but I know it isn’t just my anxiety. Has anyone had this problem? also what were your first steps in getting a diagnosis?

i’m gonna be honest, doctors very well may tell you that it is your anxiety. but keep seeking out other doctors who will actually listen and give you the time of day. also seek out a POTs specialist. a lot of doctors don’t know what POTs is

Dr.s don’t know what to do with us so the easiest thing is to say we’re crazy I wish they would be honest and say they don’t know 🤬
i will say, that treating my pots helped my anxiety! sometimes they can exasperated each other!
i agree with all the other commenters, it’s SO annoying that for some reason providers try to write off conditions as just anxiety or depression like ??? happened to me at least two separate times with different conditions
try to see a cardiologist rather than just your pcp, they tend to know more about it. tell them about your symptoms and how much your heart rate changes when laying/sitting/standing. good luck!!
I printed out the symptoms of POTS and marked all the ones I have with pictures of when I did a poor man’s tilt table test. Laying down heart rate and BP, sitting up, and standing in 3, 5, and 10 minute increments. My PCP made a referral to cardiology based off this information and the cardiologist diagnosed me off this information and doing a poor man’s tilt table to prove what I had shown. I also have diagnosed anxiety disorders and had a very disrespectful nurse tell me it was likely just anxiety. Thankfully the doctor was smarter
That's exactly what happened to me anytime I brought it up at appointments, I will continue to search for a provider who is willing to discuss alternative reasons for my symptoms besides my anxiety since I've had these symptoms far before my anxiety started
