Throughout my life, I’ve dealt with my adhd symptoms and it wasn’t until last year that I realized I had adhd inattentive until my therapist told me. I’m switching careers right now and have to self- study and it’s very difficult for me, nearly impossible lol. I’m afraid to ask for medication because I feel like I’m horrible for asking for it. I don’t know why 😞. Has anyone found that medication helps?

I’m pretty immune to most meds my psych prescribed and was also diagnosed only a few years ago, already after high school and college so I felt like it would be a waste to get meds at this point when I already managed without them. But eventually I asked to try some and was prescribed but they don’t work on me. Really wish they did. No reason to feel bad about asking for help!!
@Tla ya thanks! I decided to reach out to my doctor 😊
Medication has definitely helped me tons, I also felt weird about asking my psychiatrist the first time lol I was worried she was assuming I'm just some druggie 😅 Adderall also tremendously helped with my overthinking and I felt certain present, like I just came out of a meditation session. Only issue I've had lately was that I've had my first panic attack and started hyper focusing on my body sensations, and one day I took my adderal XR and it triggered my anxiety attack which was odd to me
For me medication has 100% changed my life. I am on adderall and I feel productive, less anxious, and overall a low happier and better person. I'd say ask for it and try it out. If you don't like it you can always just stop!
@Beannsss thank you! I have decided to reach out to my doctor 😊
For me, medication helps TREMENDOUSLY. It makes the world of a difference. If you take the medication route, you and your psychiatrist just have to find the right one for you. Myself, I am on Adderall. It's helping me keep my job, keep my kids, and keep my relationship. I wish you the best of luck 🤞
@witchymom97 do you have any side effects from the adderal?
@Julzee I don't, specifically, but others have had side effects. I have before, when I was taking it to self medicate but hadn't been prescribed, because I started at a higher dose instead of working my way up. Moving your jaw/grinding teeth can be a side effect
