Does anyone else get dismissed when talking about medical symptoms because they can see in your chart that you have GAD. I went to the ER for severe chest pains and it’s been happening along with other concerning health issues. They just told me you have anxiety and that’s why you think all of this is a problem. Like what dude?!?! I have multiple things that lead me to believe there is something wrong with me medically but no one is willing to put in the work to find out and just write me off because of my anxiety.

I have had a similar thing happen. I got temporary paralysis on one side of my body after starting Lyrica. When I went to my doc, she told me I was fine and it was just anxiety. I knew something was wrong, because I'm not stupid. So I went to immediate care and they were shocked that my doc had said that and right away identified it as a side effect and told me to quit the med now or it will get worse/spread. Stopped taking the med and got feeling back and was totally fine. One stupid doc not taking me seriously could have given me full-body paralysis claiming it was anxiety. Ya know bc anxiety and paralysis are totally the same things. I switched doctors after that. If you think there is something wrong, be persistent. You know you best. It could honestly be a matter of life or death. Go until you find someone who will listen and do tests. If you go to a whole new doc/practice that doesn't have your medical history, honestly it sucks, but don't even mention the anxiety, let them do tests and then tell them. Doctors can be assholes. Even though they're in the medical field, there's still a stigma, unfortunately. Stay strong. I hope you can get some help. Always keep fighting.

Yep, kept telling ER dr I had chest pains family member blurted out that I have GAD and the medical professionals kinda did that "oh this guy" look to each other and kinda wrote me off. It wasnt until 15 mins later they nonchalantly checked my blood pressure and proceeded to rush me to a room lol

Absolutely. I have been diagnosed with Epilepsy they still don't have a clue on what kind. Then diagnosed with GAD so now when I have any side effects from medication or have severe tremors they tell me it's just pseudo seizures and give me a shot of adivan at the ER and send me home. It just makes me sleep for an hour then it starts all over again. I don't have a stressful life nor mental trauma I need to overcome. Have previously had an ischemia stroke and everything is just played off as stress. I don't understand why they don't listen to my actual feelings or concerns.

That has happened to me way to many times, they said that with my stomache pains aswell. It's rediculous.
