Hey all, I’ve been recently diagnosed and wondering about mobility aids. How did you know you needed one? Have you felt that it helped you move around better?

I started using a mobility aid recently. I knew that I needed it because I had some days where I would go home and lay down. And literally not be able to move. I got a cane and it really helped. Essentially, I started using it once I realized that the pain wasn’t manageable anymore. I’ve felt much better since I started walking with an aid, I would recommend one if you are having issues. However, keep in mind that you want to very careful of muscle/joint atrophy. I hope this is helpful, if not a bit gloomy XD

I started using mobility aids as soon as I realized that they would be helpful. that sounds really vague but basically when I realized that using a mobility aid would give me back the freedom to do things I couldn't do otherwise, I started using them. so for example, as soon as I realized I couldn't go grocery shopping for as long as I needed, I started using a wheelchair or cane. both have given me so much more freedom!! best of luck to you!
