People on their eating disorder journey, do you gain weight and then feel disgusted in yourself? Even though it’s part of the journey of getting better? I surpassed my goal weight, but I’m worried I’m gonna be obese because that’s what my mother has implanted in my brain.

I personally gained a lot of weight in recovery & for many months felt disgusted. I started unpacking my internalized fatphobia & the root of why having fat/weight on my body scared me (ie. I had always made myself small through my ED so that I could avoid the abuse I was experiencing). Now I know that I am safe in my body & can give it unconditional love whether I gain more weight or lose some weight. Therapy has been hugely helpful for me on this journey! Best of luck to you 💛

Happens to me! It’s hard to keep healing when you see the number on the scale and it gives so much anxiety. My mother did the same thing to me. I have to keep telling myself that I’m more than a number or weight and my body is adding what it needs. I hope it gets easier for you ❤️
