Hi all. I just officially got my hidradenitis suppurativa diagnosis about a week ago, although I’ve suspected it for a while and think I’ve had it since I was 12. I’m 30 now. Does anyone have any tips for someone recently diagnosed? I’m currently looking for good skin care products, especially a deodorant or another way to keep my underarms, where my flareups are worst, from stinking. I have odd sores all over my body, not just my underarms and other common HS places, but the doctor said something about a follicular occlusion tetras of conditions that includes HS and could explain those.

If you need a good cleanser for when you shower try CeraVe Acne Foaming Cleanser Cream specifically the Benzoyl Peroxide formula. My dermatologist recommended it as using regular body washes can irritate the area. She said since it's a cream you can apply it and leave it for a little bit before washing off

hey! limiting your use of antiperspirant will be ideal, plain deodorant has been fine for me so far - although i do try to put it on as little as possible. also ive found antibiotics to be really good for me, specifically lymecycline - i was diagnosed with hurley stage 3 and it’s reduced my flares by around 70%

I had flares in my armpits for years and started using natural deodorants and I never get cysts there anymore. Schmidts is a great natural deodorant that I don’t get stinky wearing. Also stinkbug deodorant works great too. You do sweat still, but I’d rather sweat and not stink than have horrible cysts and not be as sweaty.

I was just diagnosed. All I can provide is has it been suggested to use Hibiclens soap a few times a week?
