i got off my meds back in november, and since then although my mental health has had ups and downs, i haven’t been majorly depressed or manic. this week though, i have barely been able to sleep. the 30 mg i once took to make me fall asleep, that were effective, are no longer working. last night i took 50 mg just to be able to fall asleep and i still wasn’t able to fall asleep until 1:30. lately i’ve been unable to get adequate sleep. also yesterday i was working out and then my energy got so low after that and it was like i couldn’t gather my thoughts. then after a bit all of a sudden my mood flew up and i ended up getting a LOT done. i was mentally tired but at the same time i felt like i could do anything and everything. i think i’m becoming manic again and the thing is i was talking to my roommate about it this morning and she was saying how she thinks it is partially controllable and that maybe if i don’t use my phone at night i’ll be able to sleep like no girl that’s not how it works. going off my phone at night isn’t going to make the chemicals in my brain causing me to feel this way go away. i’m so frustrated. idk if im becoming manic again but do i need meds again??? i used to do multiple all lighters or only get like 4 hours of sleep in 48 hours and i don’t want it to come to that again. yes i got a lot done in those periods of time but i still felt so alone.

It looks like you’ve been on Prozac, which I take as well! A major perk of this med was the way it helped my sleep schedule, even just my starting dose of 10mg somehow took me from 2-3hrs of sleep a night to a more manageable amount within a few weeks. If it worked similarly for you, I’d definitely try to restart your medication regimen, at least at a low dose to begin. Talk to your doctor!

This sounds like how I feel at the start of a manic episode. It may be helpful to talk to your doctor about meds, but if you’re like me, you could also try making a strict and specific daily routine for yourself (eg. wake up at 8:30, brush teeth, breakfast by 9:30, etc). When I have bouts of insomnia, it helps to still have a specific time blocked off for when I should be sleeping, and not vary by much. It’s frustrating, but sometimes this can help whack me into a better schedule. Hope you’re well, good luck 💕

I understand exactly what you mean. Did you titrate down on your meds or did you just stop? Your symptoms could mean that you truly do need your medication, or you could be having withdrawals from going off the meds, or both. I strongly urge you to talk to a doctor, preferably a psychiatrist about this issue. To me it sounds like you are heading into a manic phase. I think it will only get worse if you continue without seeking medical help. Good luck.
