School’s are so unnecessarily inaccessible. We have two indoor ramps that are just barely wide enough for a wheelchair user and there are some places outside that are just completely inaccessible. One of the outside ramps is so far from the main entrance to the building that it takes twice as long to get inside. And it’s not covered like the stairs are. The curbside ramps have been “fixed” by having more concrete poured over them making them a tripping hazard to able-bodied people and inaccessible to wheelchair and cane users. This just makes me so angry. A lot of these are simple fixes like widening the ramps or properly fixing pavement cracks.

I think the people designing, building and funding these projects should spend at least a couple days strapped in to a wheelchair. Just to feel how confining it is. What the challenges are.
