Hydroxyzine has been helpful for panic attacks. You use it as needed. I had a bad reaction to celexa and almost wanted to give up. Hydroxyzine has helped me feel more at ease.

Personally, escitalopram & wellbutrin have helped me the most. I'm on 300mg for wellbutrin, and 10mg for escitalopram.

I’ve tried sooo many antidepressants and the best one that worked for me was pristiq! And then kolopin for anxiety

In my experience with trazodone 50mg, within a half hour, I'm out for 10 hours.

Ssris have less side effects so doctors normally will start you on that. They aren’t for everyone, and unfortunately it’s a journey and takes a lot time for them to have effect so it may take a year or more to find the right meds but it’s all worth it! If the medicine isn’t working for you, tell you doctor because there are so many options and you will find something that works eventually

Typos like crazy in my last post. I’ve never used the word ,”ain’t” in my entire life. Blahahahaha. See, OCD is creeping back. I’m all on a tizzy about the typos. Eek.

Lexapro really messed with my IBS, and Zoloft is starting not to work. When it was/is working, I suffer about 95% less hospital visits. Right now, the 200mg that I’m taking, really ain’t working. My obsessive and thoughts of mortal illness are creeping back. My OCD is coming back as well. I wish Zoloft still worked, but no dice. Will any of you please tel me what your experience with Prozac and Celexa have been??? Or what has your doc prescribed for you after Zoloft stopped working?

I've been formally diagnosed with moderate to severe Persistent Depressive Disorder (PDD) last year by a psychologist, but my PCM Doc has been prescribing me Lexipro (Escitaopram) since 2017. It's almost like the light was turned on every time I take it. I haven't taken ADHD meds yet but I heard it's a stark difference with their medication and that's what I can relate it too. A stark difference between taking the pill and not. It also has less sever side effects and less in general to Prozac. I would try that! It has helped immensely. Hope this helps! 💕

Citalopram (Celexa) has really helped me a lot. I'd go as far to say it saved me. I take it for my anxiety, and its helped me keep the panic at bay long enough to talk myself out, it's helped me be more social, and its brought my heartrate down from 140s to normal 60-100 because I'm not in a constant state of fight or flight. But it doesn't help everyone, and I had to learn coping mechanisms and make changes in my life along with the meds

Personally, after trying multiple medications I found that the herbal supplement that I tape for chronic pain and insomnia was the most helpful and least harmful of them. It’s called Kratom. Please speak to a doctor and someone actively taking these supplements before trying them, as always.

I have tried a lot of different medications to control my anxiety and depression...currently on Prozac, Buspar, and Lamictal and I am doing really well.

It depends on your symptoms but people generally do pretty well on Prozac

I started on an amitriptyline and Buspar combo

I noticed you mentioned if anyone has experience with trazodone, I take it to help my depression and help me fall asleep. It makes my nose insanely stuffed and puts me to sleep but makes it almost impossible to wake up in the morning and i feel groggy all day

cymbalta is a really good one for depression and anxiety. for anxiety alone, i would try buspar or hydroxozine before benzos (xanax, Ativan, klonopin, etc)

This is interesting. I had a horrible experience with Zoloft (sertraline). It literally made me very angry, even at a low dose. Wellbutrin wakes me up like nothing else, but I get very “tunnel” like and am hyper focused/unemotional. So far, mirtazapine has worked wonders for me, although I put on 30lbs. I would love to take GeneSight, but have been told it’s a waste of money. Klonopin and Xanax, even at low doses (.25/.50mg) are like magic for me. I become a completely different person with much less care. My doctor is totally against benzos, however.

I’m also on Buspar. The first couple days were rough but now I have no problems with it. I tried Abilify specifically for depression and was throwing up and had migraines so that been the worst one.

Paxil works so well for me, and doesn’t give me side effects unless I miss a dose and then I have super low BP and I’m crying all day.

I was super hesitant about any "brain" meds. I didn't believe they would make me better at all. Thought they would make me worse.. I had a bad reaction with zoloft & stayed hesitant to try anything else.. I took the genesight test before trying anything else.. Took pristiq & I was proven wrong. I was literally not functioning daily, and now I'm doing most everything I used to do.

    • Jaylove

      925d

Ok so has anyone who’s been on medication say it really helps a lot ? As in overall and can function better daily ? What about negative thoughts?

    • cabb

      925d

Zoloft was bad for me, took ativan while switching to pristiq, was having anxiety/panic daily. Pristiq worked, and now coming off ativan. We talked about using viibryd if pristiq doesn't do it. I cant say I'm 100% better, but have improved a lot with pristiq. So just sticking with it for now.

Zoloft had helped alot, ive tried a few over the years. Welbutrin worked the best , but it makes my anxiety worse at times.

I took Lustral(Sertaline) with Clonex(Clonazepam) and went to therapy once a week and it was a really good combination for me. But as Barnes said, it’s really personal and might not work for you. Go to a good psychiatrist in order to decide which medications are the best for you and do not give up on therapy, it’s a really big part of the treatment in my opinion

    • Jaylove

      927d

Thank you I’m hesitant to try Meds but I wanted to see my options first and wanted to know if therapy really helps ?

    • Barnes

Definitely talk to your doctor about meds and SEs and pros and cons. What works for one person may not work for another. I've had a lot of good luck with Citalopram, but a lot of other people went off of it because it didn't work for them.
