does anyone else have difficulty explaining their illness to family? like. yes, i have the energy to take a shower, but no, i don’t have the energy to wash my hair. yes, i have the energy to take the garbage and dog out, but no, i don’t have the energy to clean my room. it’s so hard trying to explain to non-chronically ill people that i can’t just “push” myself to do it otherwise i’ll be feeling it harder the next day

Yes, in a lot of ways. Such as, how I’ve been a janitor for 5 years & clean for hours every day at work, but my own house is a biohazard because I’m always exhausted & am a diagnosed hoarder.
I get this!! People don't seem to understand the word chronic. some days you can go for a walk but the next day it's agonising. People asking you over and over or "forgetting" you have a chronic pain condition is hard because it doesn't matter how you phrase it or tell someone it doesn't seem to help. I'm struggling with this too so I don't know what to advise but I just wanted you to know that I do get it.
