Help!! I need some information.. I’ve never had a flare under my arm before. I currently have a huge one that’s just popped up. I started my doxycycline this morning due to feeling the effects of the infection. Am I doomed to live with them there now too? I’ve only ever had them on my thighs, groin and butt.. up until 2 days ago. This really bums me out because I live in tank tops all year 😩

Luckily I haven’t had a flare up there in such a long time. I since switched to using just coconut oil and essential oils as my deodorant, has helped a lot. And I totally encourage you to wear your tank tops if you’re comfortable enough! I use gauze to cushion the area from movement when I want to wear something sleeveless.

I have had flare ups in different parts of my body, my underarms being the main spot about 6 years ago. And like the other two said, natural deodorant has been my answer. I use normal Schmidt’s deodorant (not the sensitive skin one) and it’s the only natural deodorant that I don’t stink when wearing, and it almost completely went away in that area since.

I have a spot under my left arm that’s been there for several months but thankfully hasn’t gone into a full blown flare — I use pH balanced deodorant + Lume’s acidified body wash as part of my regular care which might make a difference, but who knows!

In my experience, you can usually limit the hs growth by using natural products as stated above and keeping the general area as healthy as possible. I’d try sleeping with your arms up, and wearing something breathable around the house, or as you said, wearing tank tops when out. There is a limit to how much you can do to prevent new flares and new scars but there’s also some things you can’t do. Good luck, and remember you don’t have to be ashamed wearing a tank top even if people can see the hs. :)
Oh, also! Try to prevent any sort of friction there the best you can. Often times i use bandages or gauze pads. It will inevitably get irritated otherwise
Unfortunately, under my arms and on my ribs is the only places i get mine. It'll probably start appearing there a little more now :( i hope it doesn't get infected and just do your best to keep it from getting irritated. All-natural deodorant will be your best friend
