Aaaahhhhhhh

562d

I went to medicine management appointment and the doctor put me on bipolar meds because Effexor made me feel aggressive…. And I told him my mom had me take bipolar meds because she and I would argue all the time and she said I’m bipolar. From what I understand, depression drugs can make bipolar people or those that aren’t depressed feel aggressive? But also I was going through a lot of stress and jealousy with my husband because I’ve been cheated on so much. How do I communicate that I don’t feel I am bipolar? I actually feel I am more anxious or adhd or autistic. I don’t really feel the not interested in things like depression, I just feel too unfocused and tired to do anything. (I have thyroid issues) I literally feel the same everyday unless something actively triggers me. I have never had mania, I’m just always feeling blah or it’s stressed and blah tired feeling.

Your concerns are completely valid. I would agree anxiety or a different mood disorder would make more sense than bipolar, and it's strange they gave you medication for it despite not having experienced mania. I hope you're able to find support in your psychiatrist because that has to be frustrating. Sending my support 💙

@kittycrime In terms of communicating that you don't feel bipolar, you could mention that you don't feel you've experienced mania and that you don't generally experience the depressive symptoms either. It genuinely could be an extension of thyroiditis, because that affects our stress response. I hope this helps!
