What medications have helped you with fibromyalgia pain? I take Cymbalta 60 mg but it has done absolutely nothing for my pain. My psychiatrist is recommending to try a higher dosage but I’m hesitant because I read that studies say taking more than 60mg typically makes no difference. Does anyone else take Cymbalta or other meds for pain and if so, what dosage are you on? Also, do you take any supplements that help? I’ve been taking fish oil and turmeric for less than a month but hasn’t seen any effect yet.

I have Fibro and take 200mg of Lyrica(pregabalin) 3xs a day, and that's been a great help. I also just added 50mg Nortriptyline for IBS and it's helped my hand pain a lot. I tried cymbalta, and it helped with back pain but made me sleep 4 more hours a day, and gabapentin had rough side effects, which is why I switched to Lyrica. My mom has fibro too and didn't get any relief from cymbalta, apparently it only works for about 30% of people. I'm not sure what she is taking now.

this is super helpful, thank you! I’ve been thinking about talking to my doctor about Lyrica for a while, I’ve never tried it and it seems that a lot of people here with fibro take it

I also take Lyrica and once we found the right dosage it's been helping a decent bit with pain. I would definitely ask your doctor about it. Just be prepared for the dizziness 😩

hi. I see you said you take 200 mg of lydrica pregablin I also take that at 150 mg 3 times a day. I’m still in a lot of pain daily. I asked my rheumatologist if the could increase my med and she told me that I’m on the highest dosage. Am I being lied to?? I’m just ready to be done with meds period.! Also hate the fact that pregablin if not taken makes you feel very sick..withdrawal’s I ask is it even worth it? 😔

Gabapentin helped the most for me. I tried everything… now I’m not on any of the standard meds for fibro or small fiber neuropathy.

i’m thinking about trying it too, thanks for sharing! I’m only worried about taking it because I had a terrible psychotic episode last time i smoked weed (about 5 years ago and I haven’t touch marijuana since). I have no idea what was in it but probably very high THC 🤷🏼‍♀️ I know there are so many different kinds, I just need to get the courage to go see a cannabis specialist

weed used to make me freak out. It’s like your first drink.. you HAVE to build a tolerance. Take a teeny tiny hit the first time. When I had a tolerance I didn’t feel any of those weird effects. But after quitting and trying again, I freaked out again. That, and it’s just not for some people.

I was very worried about beginning to experiment with Cannibis- but it’s actually been more helpful than my prescription muscle relaxant! I use the Orange Sherbert strain in a cartridge for a Stizzy- not sure if that helps but just know it can be worth a shot! ❤️

My neurologist has me on LYRICA, cymbalta and plaquenil..I’m finally out of pain for the most part after a horrible year.. I missed my LYRICA and plaquenil the other morning and nerve pain came back… at least I know it’s working… I had covid last month which ramped up the pain so try to stay healthy in that regard:)

I'm on 50 mg of Lyrica at bedtime, and it has been helping with pain throughout the night and a little into the next morning. I will be upping my dose this winter because my pain is always worse, but I can say in my experience Lyrica is great. It can exacerbate fatigue a lot though

I went through a whole range of pills that did not help even slightly. Lyrica, duloxetine. Gabapentin was awful. I decided to go natural if I was going to be in pain on all the pills anyways. I put ginger in my morning smoothies. A lot of people aren’t big fans of the taste. If I miss my smoothie I feel like I have a flare up. Magnesium. I use a topical “muscle relief magnesium spray” and add lavender. Swear by that one. It’s the theraworx off-brand. CBD creams, but a lot come with peppermint or menthol and it feels like toothpaste. Alot of things I felt like weren’t working because I was still in pain. Nothing will stop it entirely. I only noticed the difference when I stopped taking/doing them and the pain came back worse. Ginger has been a godsend.

4.5 mg Low Dose Naltrexone and Claritin. I used to take tramadol and gabapentin but no longer need it.

Hey there! I took Gabapentin for almost a year and it was pretty damaging to me on a psychological level, and frankly I know it’s a common prescription but I wouldn’t reccommend it 😅 I’ve now been on Topamax for several months and I’ve seen some improvement! Nothing insane, but I have a baseline at the very least now ❤️

Any advice on how you were able to safely get a Percocet prescription for pain? There isn’t a doctor I’ve spoken to that has been willing to prescribe it despite the documented need for it!

if I've gotten Percocet, it's usually from an ER doc because my pain has gotten so bad I can't do anything but scream. I'm extremely meticulous about my med usage though, and I have a long, documented history of A Lot Of Problems, so it's probably easier for me than it would be for most people. I would talk to your doctor or pain management specialist about a standing prescription for opiates and emphasize that you'd take it as little as possible and would be willing to be in counselling (if you aren't already) to track your usage and make sure you're not becoming addicted. if you're in your teens/early 20s it's just gonna be a difficult scrip to get since your brain isn't done developing yet and that's a major factor in the decision to not prescribe narcotics
