TW: restrictive disordered eating . . . . . I’m extremely anxious today and struggling to cope. I’ve already posted two questions in the past 24 hours but I’m just kind of freaking out. I can’t stop googling how to lose weight, what a health weight looks like, how to force yourself to eat more, etc. I’m anxious about the idea of eating but also anxious about the fact that I’m not eating enough. What do you do to help when you’re anxious, even if it’s not food related? I’ve been working in my anxiety workbook and it’s not helping too much, I made some tea and am trying to watch Netflix but it’s not helping. Any advice would be appreciated!

@Belugabear you I’m glad it was helpful:) going to Trader Joe’s is a wonderful idea. They have lots of good things to eat. I don’t know if you have ever tried them, but they have these frozen bananas that are covered in chocolate which are really good. I usually don’t like bananas but those are pretty good. It makes sense to not want to go alone. I totally get that. Some things that have helped me is planning out a reward for when I get home after I’ve gone to the store. Or setting a specific time I will go. Or doing something nice and then bring like when I finish I’ll go. For some reason usually taking a shower gets me motivated to go places lol. Anyways, try to take care of yourself and be proud of how many things you are doing to be well. It takes a lot of effort and bravery to keep trying things even when it is so hard. It takes a lot of energy. So the fact that you are doing that says you are strong and resilient. You got this.

Try and think if there is anything out there that sounds doable to eat. Maybe takeout? That usually helps me eat when I’m really anxious. Or even if that food is ice cream that’s fine. Just find something that sounds doable. It’s really great that you are already trying to many things to feel calmer. Yea is always really helpful. If you can take a walk and spend time in the fresh air that might also help. I’ve known many friends with eating disorders and while it’s really easy to stay quiet eating disorders fester that way. Tell a friend or loved one before things get out of hand (if you are in this headspace after a few days) and have them check in with you and make sure that they check in with you about what you have eaten, and if you haven’t eaten enough offer you foods or offer to cook and stuff like that. Also just reminding myself that things will not be like this forever helps me get through intense moments. Hang in and you will get through this.

@Tofu14 thank you so much that’s all super helpful. I want to go to Trader Joe’s and try to find some foods I’ll eat, but I can’t find anyone to go with me and I’m not sure if I can brave going alone. But I do know getting out of the house would help a lot. And thank you for the reminder, that made me cry, it’s hard to remember things can get better. I appreciate you 💕
