How do you guys deal with romantic relationships and bipolar disorder.

I would say 100% communication and openness. What works for me is to tell them how I'm feeling everyday/what mood I'm in. Sometimes it's hard to talk it out, and in those times we write about it instead and share feelings and expectations that way. It's very hard but also very doable to have a relationship ❤️ your partner just needs to understand (at least a tiny bit) what you're going thru. Another thing that works for us is relaying what can help. I know for me in a depression swing I need a lot of extra support and encouragement to do even the simplest of things, but with my partner knowing that (as well as knowing how I'm feeling that day) he can give me the extra support and things I need to help get thru the days. When I'm in a heightened state, I need someone to ground me and help me to remember to take time for myself and self care and to relax and be more careful. But this all comes with open, honest communication and understanding on both sides of the relationship. And it also takes time to establish this type of communication, but in my experience, once things are established it will make a world of difference!

I got on meds. Otherwise it's really hard. I try and just be aware of what mood I am in and tell my partner. Tell them not to feed into it. Watch video on it together. I'm happy to talk about it but I still could use some advice too
