Anyone else have this problem, the nurses and doctor at my doctor office don’t really listen and tell me to do certain things that I know won’t really work. Like first they told me that I didn’t need insulin at first and (this was when they thought I was type 2 diabetic because of my age and that I was a little overweight, so they assumed I was type 2.) but then like a few weeks after diagnosis they had to put me on Lantus insulin and then also put me on Metformin. But that wasn’t working and then added humalog to take every time I eat. And now my blood sugar is still high but is getting better now. So if the people at my doctors office had just listened to me from the beginning they could have put me on the Lantus and humalog right away and I would probably have my blood sugar a little better under control by now.

I got my diabetes at age 55. The test showed that I was Type1 but my dr didnt want to believe it because it was unheard of at that age. Drs are educated toward the norm but they need to accept the exceptions too.

My current doctor acted like I couldn’t have type 1 because I was over 30 years old and a little over weight. It was like really, doctors found out years and years ago that older adults can have type 1 also and that kids can get type 2

Exactly right. I have already started looking for a better one that works with my insurance.

You should definitely find another Endocronologist. A year ago I found a great doctor after years of having no so great ones. It’s your body and no one better than you knows what works.

Yes I know about the test, I had it done and found out that I do have type 1 and not type 2.

There’s a blood test that’ll tell whether you’re type 1 or 2. I know people who think they have type 1 because they use insulin and that’s not true. Type 1 is an autoimmune disease and type 2 is not.

Diabetes is different for everyone . You know what works for you.Maybe find a different Endo if you can, one that will listen better.
