hi, I was recently diagnosed with chronical depression. I've been talking to my therapist and she mentionted antidepressants couple of times. A lot of tabus on the subject. Even tho I'm feeling better right now I talked to my husband and closest relatives about it and they don't want me to take them bc of prior experiences. what do you think about antidepressants on a daily basis?

I’ve been on many and I will always be on one. It helps keep everything more manageable. Depression is caused by a lack of serotonin and if you don’t make your own, store bought is fine. 🤗

Anti depressants absolutely helped me and balanced me out. I was lucky and my first medication ended up clicking with me, but I ended up needing to change it over time. May not be for everyone but it was absolutely for me!

If you have relatives that have taken antidepressants, tell your doctor about what has and hasn't worked for them. I tried a couple medications before I started taking what my mom is on, and it works for me too. Sometimes it takes more than one. I take a medication that helps my brain make serotonin, and another that helps it accept it, and a couple more for anxiety and sleep issues. Brains are super complex and it's unreasonable to expect every one to work perfectly, sometimes it needs help

I take two in the morning and have for many years. You do have to change them every few years to make sure your body doesn't start rejecting the meds. Starting them can be rough for a little bit.

Antidepressants and Anxiety meds have allowed me to live the life I’ve always dreamed of. There were minor side effects in the beginning but once they passed my life was back on track. If you want to start with the cleanest of antidepressants try Wellbutrin.

It’s definitely been a journey to find which one works for me but in the end they’ve helped me way more then harmed me. I’ve had experiences on both sides I’ve had ones make me way way worse and the one I’m on makes me feel a lot better. Your most likely gonna have to try a few different things before you find one that works the best for you and it’s easy to get discouraged but it can be extremely helpful for some people. If you want to try medications than go for it just be prepared for a little journey along the way. And remember your not alone- I’m rooting for you ❤️

I was on an antidepressant for many years and they helped me a lot. Last year, they suddenly stopped manufacturing it and I had to stop cold turkey. I've been on another one for about a year and it helps some, but I just don't feel as good as I did with the original one. I say, if you can find the right one for you, they can be really helpful.

i’d wonder who’s past experiences they’re talking about. everyone reacts differently and the key is really making sure you don’t abruptly stop taking them and you follow exactly what your doctor says. i used to be adverse to daily meds but- i’ve accepted that i have a chemical imbalance in my brain and it’s ok to need medicine to help it!!! everybody’s journey is different- you’ve gotta decide what’s best for you! nobody else!

I'd say go for, if you truly think it could be of use to you, go for it. people often forget that medicine is just a tool to help us but, like a lot of other tools not all of them are going to work for everyone. it takes time to find what's right for you, for me every antidepressant I tried made me feel worse and that's because what I needed was antipyschotics. if you want to take medicine do so but, just make sure to advocate for yourself and your care. if something doesn't work let your doctors know and ask for a change (an up in dose or a change in medicine) you know yourself better then anyone else, you'll know what you need when the time comes

It was a journey to find the correct medication for me, but anti-depressants have changed my life permanently for the absolute better. I still struggle most days, but once I was able to work with my doctor to find the best medication for me, the bottoms are not as low at all. You have to be patient and persistent to find the right medication because there can be side effects, and it's finding the best balance that works for you.

i have been on and off antidepressants for many years and i find that they can be incredibly helpful. if you don't feel right when taking it then it's not the right medication for you. there are hundreds and thousands and medications and combinations so it can take time to find the right one for you. but in my experience when you have the right combination for you, it can make a huge difference. the most important thing to do is keep talking to your therapist about how you feel and how the medication is making you feel. if your dr knows how the current medication effects you, it'll be easier to find one that works.
