Does anyone else sometimes feel guilty for having academic accommodations? I'm looking for reassurance and to reassure past or current students that it's okay to have a bit more assistance :)

tbh the uk is so institutionally ableist that I have never rly felt this way lol (I actually don’t think I get enough accommodations tbh) – but honestly I’d say to just remind yourself that struggling more with stuff is not necessarily bad and that allowing extra time or rest breaks or typing for people with adhd or any other thing is really not that different to something like having different sizes of clothing. education is not one-size-fits-all and it would be unfair to treat it that way – all it is is a way to help you cope with everything else you have to deal with that someone else may not. it’s not an advantage, per se; it’s an accommodation of individual needs so that you can do your best

your accommodations are there to make things equitable. you need a taller platform to stand and see over the wall and that’s okay, some people are just naturally tall so they don’t! you are doing your best and your accommodations don’t take away from your achievements… in fact, they add to them because it is hard to advocate for yourself! they also don’t take anything from others <3
