Shortly after having my daughter in 1999 I was diagnosed with PMDD. Before then I was just told I was depressed. I went to my doc to get on birth control for the first time and that’s when I explained that it seemed like I was only depressed/suicidal/self harming before my period and that almost the second I started I would be fine.
