I just started taking Adderall after being tested and diagnosed with ADHD. any tips or things you've noticed with taking this med? like.. is there anything special you would want to tell a first time user of this? Just looking for any info that anyone finds relevant!

Be very careful what other substances you mix it with. Cold meds have a stimulant in them that can give you a racing heart and such, as can caffeine for some folks.

Use a timer/alarms to remember meds. I use routineflow for my morning routine and then set a timer for 6 hours for my afternoon med

I’ve been on Adderall for 15 years. Here’s what has worked for me (I realize some of this is in direct contrast to what others have written, but hear me out.) - small doses throughout the day, not the Xr formula because you will have no control over when it works. It tends to kick in 30-60 minutes after I take it, so I plan my doses so they’re most effective for meetings, work deadlines, etc. - I take my first dose on an empty stomach and have breakfast about 30 min later. No jitters, but full effect. If your dose is making you jittery it may be too high of a dose, or might not be the best Rx for you. - I take one-day Adderall ‘breaks’ every week, on my days off or on a lighter work day. This has kept me from developing a tolerance to the med and kept me on a lower dose. Most folks need more and more of it to be effective, but these mini breaks have worked for me. Hope this helps and hope it works for you! It has been a savior for me!

The biggest thing for me is not taking it without food. Or I will get jittery. And having water because sometimes I get a bit of a dry mouth if I talk too much. But honestly it's a great med FOR ME and I don't have many side effects. Your mileage may vary

@tjazz right! I've noticed so far that if I take it without eating first, my tummy does hurt. So I'll keep that in mind!
