I'm about to have an extremely hard time in about a 15 minutes or so. My English Spaniel, Bandit, is being euthanized between 2-3 today. He would be 14 in December... but he's been going downhill for the last several months. Constantly circling, whining in pain, has a hard time lying down or standing up, basically slides to lying down when he goes to eat. We've been talking about doing this for him for about a month but every time we went to schedule them to come over for it he would suddenly act young like there wasn't any problem. But he just keeps getting worse. Today is one of his good days.... I gave him many treats, brought him to his favorite pond and park, a car ride, letting him rest now. Guilt and grief has been crashing through me for so long already. I'm his person and he's been my boy. He's the last of the origional 3 I had most of my life sonl far. He's one of the reasons (other than financially) that I'm still living with my parents. My eyes already hurt, my head hurts, I feel like I have no tears left to shed but I know I'll have more when it's time. But God even though I know I've given him such a good life I feel like there's so much more I could have done for him, should have done. He's been in my life 12, 13 years. I can hardly imagine being without him and it feels too soon. 😔💔 I love him so much

An update; he went peacefully and we have the blessing of being able to do this at home from a group who travels to do this safely. I got to be with him the entire time. Thank you guys so much. It'll take some getting used to but I know he will be running with Belle and Tootsie soon and will be there when it's my time eventually.

I'm so sorry. 13 years is a really long life for a dog and I'm sure you gave him the best life ever. You're making the right choice to let him go and not suffer. If you go into the room with him I guarantee you he will give you a look letting you know you're doing the right thing and that he loves you. ❤️

@fibrozombie we use a service that comes to your house so they can go in the place they loved instead of the stress of going to a vet. Did it for one of the others and I'll always recommend this method if available. I layed with him during it and tbh still am. It'll be hard to get used to

I'm so very sorry that you have to go through this. Just remember you gave him a long and beautiful life, and he knows that. He knows how much you love him. I've been down this road more than once, and it hurts so badly. But just know you are helping him by making this decision.

You were and amazing owner to fill that dogs life with so much joy and memories. He'll keep you in his, and you'll keep his in yours. I know it's hard, but it gets better, slowly. Greif is a part of life that is sadly needed. Take time to remember him. May he be waiting for you across the rainbow bridge 💜
