Just wanted to preface by saying this post talks about specific paranoia instances and delusions that I have so if those could trigger you please move away from this post now. Okay, so I deal with issues thinking I'm being watched or that people are out to get me pretty much all the time. Obviously my medications help, but does anybody have any personal tips and tricks for when they don't help as much? Additionally, I feel as though everybody secretly hates me and talks about me behind my back and stuff like that. Both of these have broken up friendships and relationships in the past so I'm trying to find better coping mechanisms for them. Any advice is appreciated.

For me, I made a few mistakes when I was at my most delusional. If I had the knowledge then that I do now, I think I could have saved myself a lot of friendships, trouble, and job security. I found it really helpful to find what did and didn't work for me, a simple one like not using weed was helpful. What helps me most though is knowing I have to sleep. Hallucinations and delusions for me are far far worse when I stay up too long. My best social tip is to realize when you're vulnerable. If you're not feeling mentally secure, whether overall, or psychosis wise I find it very important not to hang out with friends or family who aren't very understanding and knowledgable of you and your diagnosis. If you're not super comfortable with them, I wouldn't risk any misunderstandings. Also, no loud/crowded environments when delusions/ hallucinations are troubling. I have had very similar problems and would be happy to help talk you through anything, perhaps we can help ground eachother when we're troubled.

@Kashew221 Smoking weed contributed so much to my delusions and paranoia! I didn't really notice how bad until I got sober.

@Johannes definitely. It's not so easy to notice when you're tolerance is high and you're so worried about the anxiety from withdrawal, but after you get through it, trying it again is not fun at all.
