I get these weird scabs on my scalp, have since I was a kid. They hurt and flake and bleed and itch, but dermatologists never were able to figure out what they are. They had gone away for a few years but recently started coming back. Does anyone know what it might be or have any tips?
that’s what I thought too but the dermatologists said it wasn’t and my mum just had me put t-tree oil on them, that just stung then again that was when I was like 10
they might not be able to identify it as psoriasis because you might be scratching the plaques off and that’s why it’s scabing over. I have it too and got a shampoo and topical from my dermatologist that cleared it up really quickly and keeps it from coming back
I think it could be psoriasis. I know this next thing is difficult but avoid scratching as much as possible. You could try shampoos like Nizoral, selsun blue, head and shoulders, or t gel.
Does it get better with more sun exposure, warm temperatures, less stress? If so, then it’s probably psoriasis that you’re picking off till it bleeds and then scabbing up. It can be hard to diagnose when a derm is unable to see the actual plaques and I know it can look really different on everyone. My dad and sister have psoriasis as well and all of us have very different looking plaques. Mine almost look like eczema rather than the classic scales so I struggled to get diagnosed without the family history
