How do you cope with trauma?

I think one of the biggest steps is coming to terms with the fact that your trauma is real and valid.

I personally try to restructure it. I've had unreasonable amounts of terrible things in my life, and I've only recently really started to process it all and heal at the age of 50. Your brain needs to process what happened and file it away but it can't do that until it understands what happened. It's not so much the incident that causes the trauma, as it is the inability to express your feelings about it afterwards. Be kind with yourself and patient, face and love fiercely every bit of yourself, because YOU are the one that got you this far. ❤️ 🤗

@Butterflygoddess Indeed. And we have made it through each struggle we have been presented with up to this moment so we can continue as long as we make sure to practice mindfulness, gratitude, and have the will to move forward with our lives.

@Manna I would have to agree. I also found DBT very helpful.

@fibrozombie I agree. Vindication is critical.
