@FORBIDDEN same as me. Have you talked about surgery with your doctor? I have small hiatal hernia and heartburn which now has evolved in GERD and Most recently into LPR

Have you tried Dexilant (dexlansoprazole)? It's supposed to be the most potent PPI. Or maybe combining a PPI + a H2 antagonist (like Pepcid)? Maybe even adding sodium bicarbonate? I am currently on Protonix 40 mg doing well, but every now and then I need a little extra (especially at night), so I keep some famotidine (Pepcid) on hand.

@mikl_pls I will try this. I’ve tried omeprazole, lansoprazol and others, so far for me the best results are with Lansoprazole. I will switch over to Dexlansoprazole to test it? Overall, I am still not sure why doctors don’t recommend surgery? Perhaps they have a monetary interest to keep people on meds and visits?

Has the doctor suggested any surgery? The reason I am asking is because I am already with the 3rd GI doctor and all of them only give me proton pump inhibitors (eg Omeprazole, Lansoprazole etc) perform endoscopy, colonoscopy, manometry and see only mild swollen tissue but I really feel the pain and irritation leading to wheezing chest. I don’t understand why they are afraid of recommending the surgery, after seeing moderate improvement with meds. I am frustrated and living miserable. I am treating my stress and I been feeling better, but I don’t know why GIs are not good here in the USA.

I've had it for years, too. Still causes issues sometimes, but far less than without my meds.
