I'm not allowed them because they mix negatively with some of my other meds, but I typically have a side stash of xanax or klonopin. Sometimes I need them to really really relax
Hydroxyzine is definitely different than Klonopin. I take 50mg 3x and then 50mg as a PRN. I found that I needed a bit of a higher dose after coming from a solid/daily dose of klonopin. It is more mild. And it's not always quick, in my experience, taking it scheduled helps more than PRN. I find it is more helpful for mild to moderate anxiety. And it is really helpful. But it's not like benzos, in my opinion. And not addicting that I know of. Coming off Klonopin is rough! But it will get easier after the withdrawal goes away. But I won't lie, or can take a few weeks.
it could help alleviate some of the anxiety caused by withdrawals, and possibly some of the physical symptoms. i was originally prescribed hydroxyzine for panic attacks and it didn't help, but i just started taking it twice daily and i've noticed less overall anxiety with it.
