How do I as a pwBPD make friends with people who don’t have mental illness. I can only make friends with pw severe mental illness and they never work out for obvious reasons. But I feel too different from people without severe mental illness. And I don’t even know how to begin to explain my severe mental health issues.

I don’t know why but I just feel uncomfortable around neurotypical people because I can’t talk about the issues I’m facing without judgement or rudeness, especially the “you don’t look ____!”. It’s annoying for me personally but if you want to be friends with a neurotypical person I’d say just go for it, and if they have any conditions that’s not really their fault because they can’t control it it can’t disappear just like that

personally i have a hard time connecting w people who aren’t neurodivergent and/or mentally ill. ofc there are some who aren’t healthy to be around, but you might find there’s a vast majority going thru the same thing and having trouble connecting w neurotypical ppl. i don’t think you should feel obligated to divulge your diagnoses to anyone, and chances are if you did try to explain to someone who isn’t in the same boat, they won’t be receptive (unfortunately). depending on where u live, you might have most luck joining different communities you relate to online and forming friendships from there. idk much, i’m just babbling but i hope this helps
