I (F20) have autism and sensory processing disorder, and with that comes the avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder. I want to lose weight, but even though I’m exercising, I’m not losing lbs because my eating habits are terrible. I eat processed foods and if I find a comfort food that’s all I eat. Currently it’s pirogies. I don’t know how to combat this and lose weight. Any tips?

I would say just try to shift your safe foods to "healthier" ones. if you can handle avocados, maybe try something like avocado toast. that's a pretty harmless thing to eat plus you can jazz it up in many ways on days where you are feeling up to it. Eggs are also a simple but healthy snack. you could also try blending fruits into smoothies if you don't like the texture of them (i do this often) feel free to message me about more food avoidant tips! DO NOT DEVELOP ANOREXIA!!! going from AFRID to Ana has DESTROYED my life. I would see a professional because this can get dangerous quickly.

Honestly I don't have much knowledge in this, but I would recommend researching everything from your caloric intake to your build type. Not trying to be judgemental it's just I eat like shit and I'm practically a twig. Also depends your reasoning as well as your goal. Also the weather can be a factor our bodies tend to instinctively gain excess weight through the winter as a survival trait. Hopefully I didn't say anything too standoffish but if you want to chat we can probably come up with a game plan to get you farther towards your goals

Felt that, unfortunately I recently ended up developing anorexia along with the arfid so my recommendation is don't do that. I'd recommend finding a nutritionist and explaining your situation to them.
