I started Dupixant a month ago and no sign that it’s working. Doc says it takes a few months to work. What has been your experience? What other products work for excema?

It does take a while for it to work. After a few months, my skin started to clear then got bad again because I had built up a tolerance to the lower dose. Then I was put on the highest one and it keeps it in control most of the time. I’ve been on Dupixent for I believe 2 years now, and I’ve noticed that during the few days before my next shot is due, my skin gets worse. It gets even worse in the winter but that’s normal. Dupixent made it seem like it was gone completely, but our bodies get used to these medications and build up a tolerance. On the days I have flare ups, I use a steroid ointment called Desonide and a non-steroid cream called Eucrissa. Desonide works much better, but in order to give your skin a break from the steroids Eucrissa is a safer solution. Eucrissa does burn like absolute hell though especially on my eyelids and the pain from the ointment doesn’t go away until about an hour. It also takes more time of frequent application for the spot to clear up than with the Desonide. These are the things that have been kind of working for me at the moment. I have noticed that when I do not take my Dupixent, I get really bad and my old patches come back. My advice would be to keep up with Dupixent and see how it works for you and talk to your doctor about getting an ointment/cream for breakouts if you don’t have one already. If you do get really bad and it’s painful, you can always ask your dermatologist for a cortisol shot which works wonders. Feel free to message me if you have any questions :)
