Other hormones can affect your hair as well. I have weird hormone levels & have had extremely thin, fragile hair since I was about 16. Not much has worked for me medically, but dry shampoo & a product called topix are great for not feeling self conscious about it.

Sometimes the levels of your thyroid can be tested and the test results can come back negative for thyroid disorders, but I believe it's possible to still have issues related to thyroid production. I know even after being medicated for hypothyroidism my symptoms were regulated and then I started experiencing hair loss again they retested my levels which came back in normal range. The hair loss continued and dry skin reappeared and I had my levels tested and they were low and needed my meds increased. You could consider getting your levels retested if the symptoms continue or get worse.

You may want to consider having your thyroid levels tested. I know I was experiencing worsening depression due to hypothyroidism, under active thyroid. I noticed periods where large amounts of my hair was falling out, which was due to the thyroid deficiency. I also experienced extremely dry skin and a slower metabolism . Once medicated to increase thyroid production most symptoms decreased significantly or completely. There's two main thyroid disorders: hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. One is and overactive thyroid gland and the other is an under active thyroid. You'd be surprised at what the thyroid gland does in the body.
