Has anyone ever been on Amitriptyline for migraines? I was on it for about 2 months and gained more than 40 pounds. I went from barely eating to now, eating everything, always being hungry even though I've been off the medication for 2 years! It really messed with my body chemistry. Has anyone had an issues from Amitriptyline with weight gain? Any tips on how to lose it? Diet and exercise have done nothing

I was on Amitriptyline but for pain relief and I was the same way once I got off of it for about two weeks until my other medications that I was put on to replace the Amitriptyline took over and I also gained about five pounds back. The thing is if your going to do diet and exercise to loose the weight you can't just do it for a month or two and expect results that you want. It took me 6 months just to loose those extra 5 lbs. that I gained and it is going to take me another year and a half to two years to get to where I want to be because of all of the meds that I am on. That is another thing you will have to take into consideration is if your on medications that also suppress your appetite and if they do it will make it harder for you to loose the weight because your not getting the calories that you need to get your metabolism where it should be to help you loose the weight. If you need some more advice on how to loose the weight let me know.
