I agree with the others. Try talking to your spouse about it and even send them some articles to read about DID. I sent my spouse this one and he was more understanding because he could match everything with my behavior: https://psychcentral.com/disorders/dissociative-identity-disorder

Thank you all, it's just hard, like today my spouse asked me to look for something in the car and then got mad and said if I don't care or don't want to do anything just say so, I do care, and apparently I was asked to do it yesterday as well but I don't remember being asked yesterday, just today

you can sometimes tell when a switch is about to happen by paying attention to your body cues. for me, i feel pressure behind my eyes, as if I'm rubbing then, before a switch or intense dissociation. it's also really common to get migraines or headaches too. pay attention to your body and see if see if you can find a pattern between physical cues and mental dissociation. it will take some time.

@sayruh your alters will introduce themselves whenever they feel you are ready to meet them. it's a process because they don't want to overwhelm you and keep you safe. initially, one of my alters got front stuck (in control and didn't switch out) for almost a year before i even realized anything was "wrong", and then she introduced me to others from there. i know it may be frustrating, confusing, and frightening, but everyone in your system exists to help you and wants to help you in their own ways. trust the timing and you'll grow as you go :-)

now you have room for someone who will genuinely understand your situation and will love you through it For now, focus on figuring out yourselves and working on communication

Thank you all, I am trying to learn as i go, i get called lazy by my spouse and being told: you always say you forget and I am tired of the excuses, and I am trying, but like cleaning I get overwhelmed as I don't know where to even start and then my spouse will tell me something important and then get mad when I can't remember what was said

@Bananasplit honestly you should have a talk with your spouse about how it's not your fault you can't remember I know we have a problem doing certain chores to the point where if we try to do it, someone switches and does a completely different activity And that's /okay/ Your spouse shouldn't be getting mad at you for it, or calling you lazy Because you're the furthest from lazy

Ok I understand very little about DID, and I really don't want to come off as asking the wrong things, but does anyone else do or get told something and then forget about it not even a day later? And how do I know for sure how many alters I have? And how do I know if they pop up? Idk how to ask the last one, that sounded better in my head lol

@Bananasplit honestly it's all just in time and figuring out communication, and learning about everyone The more you're accepting to them, the more they'll show But honestly, you never know how many you really have

@Bananasplit I had 14 personalities. I saw a counselor that specializes in DID. And I was able to integrate my personalities. I was able to put them in a cabin in my mind and not give them permission to come out and take over my body. This was a period of two years. I still have three personalities that I put in the cabin and they have stayed there for 15 years now. Yes I had a lot of lost time and don’t remember things one day to the next. As a child I had no idea that I had the ID. I only found out in my 30s that I did indeed have the ID. You never know when they pop out as you said. My personalities are very distinctive. I have a little girl name Alice she’s five. Then I have Jimmy he’s around eight. And then I have Betty who is the negative and outright mean person. I feel that the Lord has healed me from this disorder. For me the key was praying and believing I was healed. The therapist was amazing too.
