I recently got out of a break up and started punching my leg until it was bruised and carving into it. Is there anything else I can do to help calm myself so I don't self harm?

I find writing can be really helpful, i went through a similar situation about a year ago and completely spiraled down. Heavy drinking mostly. Still kinda recovering from it, but i would write out all my feelings in letters to her, the anger, how bad i missed her, how scared i was of being alone, etc. Everything i felt like i wanted to tell her but couldnt. Then, you can burn the letter. Sometimes it helps. But it does take time. Here for you dude ✊️

@forbiddenpoet thank you! I do have a journal to write out my thoughts but I never thought of writing a letter then burning it, I'll definitely try that!

I’ve found some good advice I’ve gotten has been to hold an ice cube in my hand and eat really sour candy as these are ways to make ourselves feel uncomfortable without physically hurting ourselves. I hope you feel better soon, because I know feeling like that really sucks

@Philosophia thank you!! I will definitely try that next time, I just got put on lamictal for it because my buspirone wasn't strong enough
