I've prepared myself for this for about a year because he has had a stroke and was in a nursing home. He was in the hospital when he died. He had pneumonia and covidat the same time before he died.
It takes time to do so. I was 13 when my mom died and it took me about six months to fully understand that she wasn't coming back. I thought she would because when I was younger my dad left periodically but always came back until he traded my mom with a new girlfriend.
