My sophomore year of college is starting soon and I still haven't even reached out to my advisor or even looked at classes to take let alone register and make plans for the school year. I just can't bring myself to care about it at all.

Yea unfortunately that’s what depression does to people, when you feel like you should care but you just, don’t feel that way. And yea antidepressants often help with some symptoms but not with others or even make some worse. It’s a mixed bag. Sometimes people just have to keep trying until they find one that’s a net positive enough. I don’t have much advice for your situation, but don’t feel guilty for not caring. Your brain is just not giving you the ability right now. It’s not the end of the world if you just can’t do college now, so if dropping out is the right thing that’s ok. I would definitely try a different med some time if you feel ready. Remember antidepressants can take such a long time to actually work and reach full affect (4-6 months). Good thing you weaned yourself off successfully though. Best of luck!

I would stick with it even just purely for the fact that you have a 4 year scholarship. Your school has to have some kind of resource for you to take advantage of. I say sign up and take time to figure out what their counseling program is like and boom an appointment. For most places it is free cause your tuition pays for it. I was in the same boat as you but I finally signed up and just finished my.firat week of classes. It's hard trust me but it is better than nothing.

Same thing happened to me. :/ I ended up dropping out.

@RyeJaack I definitely might but also idk what I'd do if I did that I'm planning on quitting my job if I don't get the promotion I'm hoping for cause it's so stressful and I have no real career ideas. Im a music education major and love learning about music but it's also really difficult and more and more I think I definitely don't want to teach but I have a four year scholarship and a commitment to the college to stay so idk what I'm gonna do and Im mostly too depressed to even care

Awwww. I'm sorry to hear that. Are you taking anything that might help?

@Ambier Like medication-wise? I started on anti-depressants but they didn't seem to do anything and then I thought they might be making me more depressed, it was honestly hard to tell cause I felt terrible and didn't care about anything but I also had an easier time going out and doing things, but then still felt terrible even when doing them so idk. Anyway I was supposed to contact my doctor but I never bothered and instead just weened myself off of the meds. That was weeks ago and I still haven't contacted my doctor about anything cause, again, I just can't make myself care.
