Recently diagnosed with PCOS, Fatty Liver Disease, and Pre-Diabetes. My doctors just tell me to lose weight, eat "healthy" and exercise. Like I don't even try. Doesn't help I walk a thin line around food and diet culture as I also have an eating disorder. I find it difficult to follow and maintain a meal plan without a huge mental burden. I have a busy life style so trying to find time to exercise has been a struggle too. I been back and forth with several specialists for about a year now. I am exhausted... I just feel like I'm going in circles....

I am going to go through tests to see if I have fatty liver, but I pretty sure I have it as well. No one talks about how hard it is to live and function with PCOS, like they think it is our choice to have this debilitating thing. Life is stressful, and we have to exercise as well, as if our bodies aren't already tired from working and/or studying. I am also so tired of hearing my mother body shaming me and telling me to eat less every time she calls me. As if I haven't tried...

I have those diagnoses too! I finally had a doc who gave me more options than the usual eat healthy &exercise. I actually started Saxenda. The main ingredient is the same as the diabetes med Victoza just at a higher dose that helps more specifically with weight loss at that higher dose. I was hesitant for sure bc it is a shot/pen. I was expecting a huge needle. And I went to the doc to get a tutorial like the packaging said and I opened the needle and felt immediately embarrassed bc it is super tiny. Doesn't hurt anymore. I take it at night bc it curbs my night desire to binge. And it really helps. More than I expected. I've been on it I think about 3 months and I lost 33.8 lbs so far. I never thought I would resort to meds for weight loss. but it was the only other option for me, with those disorders and how it interacts with the body. And I was just super unhealthy. I haven't gotten blood work or anything done yet- that's in a month. But I feel so great! I have more energy, and less pain and I'm not starving all night leading to bingeing. I'm excited to see how my blood tests come back. I still have a ton of weight to lose but it is a major start!

@E_belli Also, I take Vyvanse which is a stimulant for ADHD but also for binge eating. Which is mighty helpful. Works great. It's great that it makes you feel full too. The only annoying thing is that like I can eat breakfast at 6am and nurse a coffee all-day and by 6pm I may not being hungry stomach cuz I feel full. But also know that logically I and know I need to be eating more. But also the pit of my stomach feels empty and I have like stomach pain mixed with and I start getting a migraine and am nauseous. But that is a weird feeling. But is helpful.

Oh...my...god!! finally, someone said it. I recently got diagnosed with fatty liver and PCOS as well and I have had an eating disorder since I was a child. I exercise but I lose the motivation so it's more of an off-and-on thing. My family is in a poor financial state so it's hard for us to afford healthier options and a dietitian so I am miserable and struggling with my weight.

@Jujubeezy I wish there was some brain hack that made eating "healthy" and exercising (even if it's just a small lap around the parking lot during lunch) more fun or rewarding verses daunting. Every time I try to eat salads instead of fries or work out, my brain fights me tooth and nail and is like "Do I have too....? 😫" I swear my brain is an over dramatic teenager mixed with a toddler.

@pandaqueen Agreed on all levels omg. My brain is also highjacked by two children in a trenchcoat pretending to be an adult lol

I have a dietitian but I have not been completely honest with her... I shame myself when I don't stick to the meal plan and embarrassed to admit it. Then beat myself up why I'm not making any progress. Even if it is just a slight goof up.

@pandaqueen Be honest with her 😊 If you mess up, she won't shame you and it will be so nice to have some encouragement! Please remember to give yourself grace. If you wouldn't be that harsh to anyone else, you definitely shouldn't do it to yourself 😊 One little mess up isn't going to ruin all your progress ❤️

That's what my doctor said too! It really upset me because I had lost 10 pounds since my last visit and I felt like she didn't even care. I'd ask about meeting with a dietitian. They can help you come up with an awesome diet plan!
