hi! I wanted to try and connect with other folks with AS, especially younger folks. I'm 27 and this is a tough condition to find younger people with which makes it tougher to chat. other than having AS, I'm a librarian and I live with my 3 cats and my tortoise. I like to hike, bake, go to museums, and take lots of naps. excited to meet you all!

I just turned 30 this month and I was diagnosed about 2 years ago. My family has a strong history of autoimmune diseases but the only reason I was diagnosed was because my mom was. My mom got diagnosed very late, in her late 50’s and has now completed her first hip replacement, going on her second. It’s extremely hard and can feel so depressing, unmanageable and lonely…especially when you are young and WANTING to be active. I also have fibromyalgia which adds to the struggle but some things that have helped is regular medical therapy massages, yoga and therapy (for my mental stability). This disease is not easy and I feel is very misunderstood but I am here for you if you want to talk. I don’t have cats but I have a really cute dog that I love and keeps me active whether I have the energy or not 🤣

I'm 28 going on 29 in July. I got diagnosed about 2 years ago and I have really been struggling. I'm okay most of the day at work but I go to the store afterwards and then I'll be crying in pain when I get home from pain.

I was 34 when mine started . I’m now 51. It doesn’t get easier . But , for me at least , I’ve found ways around it and my life has been rad up until I had a stroke due to a different condition a few years ago . It sucks . There’s no way around it . But , my advice is to do everything you want to do . If it hurts take a pain pill and a hot bath. I had an amazing career in the film business . I travel and have a bitchin’ kid . All of this while in horrid pain , fatigued and getting sick all of the time . I try to keep some perspective and have a good sense of humor . Seriously humor helps . A lot . And telling people to shut their trap when the offer “advice” about my conditions.
