Feeling Lost: Struggling with My Mental Health

I love this :') I'm going to write that down I think because I feel like this everyday.

Today my best friend used this incredible metaphor to refer to how depression affects them. They said that they’re mind was like a garden that they had to tend to everyday to keep it alive. The some plants would die and never come back, but some would live inside their mind their whole life. Sometimes a giant oak tree that has always been with them would suddenly die, and it’d take years to clear the dead out to make room for new growth. And depressive episodes were like cold fronts that would freeze everything. Anxiety attacks were like droughts. But in the end the reward of having fruit and flower at the end of the day, no matter how little, was worth it. You may never have those old roots produce fruit again. But that doesn’t mean your soil is barren. <3
